Promoting Mental Health

On July 26,2025 Hon’ble Supreme Court of India called mental health a part of the right to life and dignity under Article 21. The Apex Court issued 15 guidelines to protect students’ mental health and directed that all schools and colleges must train their teaching and non teaching staff twice a year in basic mental health care.

However, Mahayoga Foundation has already been organising meditation programmes not only for consciousness upliftment of seekers but also to rejuvenate mental health of  students, parents, teachers, corporates, lawyers, and sports persons.

Adolescence can be a tough phase with strange new experiences and major changes at the physical, emotional and social level. Academic performance, planning for the future, experiencing various emotions such as isolation,  wanting to belong, and finding their identity, are some of the challenges that students at this age  face. These challenges can in turn affect their mental well-being. Therefore, effectively addressing mental health at an early age can help adolescents lead fulfilling lives as adults.

Objective:

Meditation for Mental Health program for adolescents, teachers and parents is organised with the aim of:

i) creating awareness about stress, anxiety, and depression
ii) normalizing conversations on mental health;
iii) reducing  stigma associated  with mental illness;
iv) encouraging  help-seeking behaviour; and
v) building resilience.

Mahayoga Foundation has a team of professionally qualified clinical psychologists, therapists/psychotherapists, psychiatrist and counsellors.

Meditation is the process of training your mind to become calm and steady and vanquish your thoughts. The popularity of meditation is increasing as more people discover its mental health benefits. One can use it to increase awareness of self and one’s surroundings. Many think of it as a way to reduce stress and develop concentration.

“Meditation For Mental Health ” program of Mahayoga Foundation  not only reduces stress and anxiety, but also help enhance mood, promote healthy sleep patterns, and boost cognitive skills of participants. These programmes also develop other beneficial habits and feelings, such as a positive mood and outlook, self-discipline, and thereby boost their mental health.
