POORNIMA PARSADAM

On every Poornima (Full Moon Day), the Mahayoga Foundation humbly undertakes the distribution of sacred Parsadam through its Annapurna Rasoi to the poor, hungry, and marginalized members of society. This regular seva is not merely an act of charity—it is a spiritual offering, inspired by the timeless traditions of Sanatan Dharma and guided by the principles of universal compassion (karuna) and selfless service (nishkam karma).

The Sacredness of Poornima

In Indian spiritual thought, Poornima holds a deeply auspicious place. It symbolizes fullness, illumination, and divine grace. From Guru Poornima to Sharad Poornima, these celestial days are revered for meditation, charity, and spiritual upliftment. Offering food to the needy on this day is considered an act of great punya (spiritual merit), as it aligns with the higher energies of the cosmos and the compassionate will of the divine.

🍛 A Divine Offering, Not Just a Meal

The Parsadam distributed by the Foundation is prepared with devotion, purity, and gratitude. It is not just nourishment for the body but a sanctified offering, meant to feed the soul with dignity and love. Through this act, we aim to remind our beneficiaries that they are not forgotten—they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger

Our Poornima Parsada Seva directly supports UN SDG 2: Zero Hunger, which calls for the end of hunger, improved nutrition, and food security for all. In a world where millions still go to bed hungry, Mahayoga Foundation contributes meaningfully—however small the scale—by ensuring no one is denied the basic dignity of a nourishing meal, especially on a day so spiritually significant.

Impact & Intention

With every plate of food served, we sow seeds of compassion and sow the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the world is one family. This monthly initiative is both an offering to the Divine and a commitment to humanity.
